This Privacy Policy explains how Umeversity, Benefit LLC (“Umeversity,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, processes, stores, and protects personal information when an individual visits umevllc.com (the “Site”), registers for an event, submits a form, participates in a survey, poll, reflection, or other interactive experience, or otherwise interacts with Umeversity.
By using the Site or voluntarily providing information to Umeversity, individuals acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Collection of Personal Information
Umeversity limits the collection of personal information to information reasonably necessary and proportionate for the services, interactions, and purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Depending on the interaction, Umeversity may collect:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Messages or inquiries submitted through the Site
- How an individual heard about Umeversity
- Preferred contact method
- Age eligibility information, such as whether an individual is 18 years of age or older

If the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act applies to Umeversity, Umeversity will collect, process, or share sensitive personal data only when strictly necessary to provide or maintain a specific product or service requested by the individual, as required by applicable law.
Umeversity will not use demographic information to unlawfully discriminate against an individual or to deny equal access to Umeversity goods or services. Umeversity does not sell sensitive personal data.
Where appropriate, demographic information may be analyzed or presented in aggregated or de-identified form so that individual participants are not reasonably identifiable.
Event Registration and Payment Information
When an individual registers for an event, Umeversity may collect information necessary to process and manage the registration, communicate event information, and administer participation.
For paid events, payment information is processed by third-party payment processors. Umeversity does not directly store full payment card information.
Use of Personal Information
Umeversity may use personal information to:
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site
- Respond to questions, inquiries, and requests
- Process and administer event registrations
- Communicate information regarding registered events
- Provide requested information or services
- Process transactions through third-party payment processors

- Analyze voluntary survey, poll, reflection, and demographic responses as permitted by law

Umeversity does not process personal information for purposes that are materially different from or incompatible with the disclosed purposes without obtaining consent when required by applicable law.

Umeversity does not sell, rent, or trade personal information and does not disclose personal information to third parties for their own marketing, advertising, or promotional purposes.
Personal information may be processed by service providers used by Umeversity to operate the Site and provide requested services, including website hosting, form processing, event technology, email communications, analytics, and payment processing. These providers receive information only as necessary to perform services on behalf of Umeversity.
Depending on the service involved, categories of information processed by these providers may include contact information, event registration information, website and device information, communications, and payment-related transaction information. Full payment card information is handled by the applicable payment processor rather than directly stored by Umeversity.
Umeversity may disclose personal information when required by law, legal process, court order, or governmental request, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of Umeversity, its users, event participants, or others.
Umeversity may use or disclose aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify an individual.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site may use cookies and similar technologies to operate properly, remember preferences, maintain security, understand website usage, and improve functionality and performance.

Umeversity will not unlawfully discriminate against an individual for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Appeals of Privacy Decisions
If Umeversity denies a privacy rights request and applicable law provides a right to appeal, the individual may appeal the decision by replying to the denial or emailing [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy Request Appeal.”
Umeversity will review the appeal and respond within the period required by applicable law. If an appeal is denied, Umeversity will provide information about any additional complaint process required by applicable law.
Right to Deletion
An individual may request deletion of personal information maintained by Umeversity, subject to applicable legal exceptions. Umeversity may retain information when reasonably necessary to complete a requested transaction or service, maintain legally required records, prevent fraud or security incidents, exercise or defend legal rights, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.
When required by applicable law, Umeversity will instruct applicable service providers to delete personal information associated with a verified deletion request.
Withdrawal of Consent
Where Umeversity relies on consent to process personal information, consent may be withdrawn at any time through the applicable preference mechanism or by contacting Umeversity at [email protected] or 202-998-8076.
Umeversity will stop processing based on withdrawn consent as soon as practicable and within the period required by applicable law. Withdrawal does not affect processing lawfully conducted before consent was withdrawn or processing otherwise permitted or required by law.
Opt-Out Rights and Preference Signals
Umeversity does not currently sell personal information or process personal information for targeted advertising or for profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Accordingly, Umeversity does not currently require individuals to submit an opt-out request for those activities. If Umeversity begins engaging in any such processing, it will provide the notices and opt-out mechanisms required by applicable law, including recognition of applicable opt-out preference signals when legally required.
Email Communications
Umeversity may send emails relating to event registrations, inquiries, transactions, service announcements, or other interactions initiated by an individual.
When appropriate consent has been provided, Umeversity may also send promotional or informational communications regarding events, experiences, announcements, surveys, or other Umeversity offerings.
Marketing and promotional emails will include a method for recipients to unsubscribe from future marketing communications. Recipients may also request to opt out by contacting [email protected].
Opting out of marketing communications will not prevent Umeversity from sending non-promotional communications relating to an event registration, transaction, inquiry, or other requested service.
Children’s Privacy
Umeversity does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If Umeversity learns that such information has been collected without appropriate authorization, Umeversity will take reasonable steps to delete it as required by applicable law.
Certain events or experiences may have additional age requirements. Where applicable, Umeversity may ask whether a participant is 18 years of age or older for eligibility purposes.
Third-Party Websites and Services
The Site may contain links to websites or services operated by third parties. Umeversity is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of third-party websites or services. Individuals are encouraged to review applicable third-party privacy policies before providing information to those services.
External Data Storage
Information collected through the Site may be stored or processed using servers, systems, or services operated by third-party providers used by Umeversity to support its operations. Umeversity takes reasonable steps to select service providers appropriate for the information and services involved.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
Umeversity may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in services, technology, data practices, or applicable law. When material changes are made, Umeversity may provide notice through the Site, email, or another appropriate method. The effective date at the top of this Privacy Policy identifies when the Policy was most recently updated.
