Event Policies
Effective Date: August 12, 2026
These Event Policies govern participation in all Umeversity events including in-person and online. In the event of any conflict between these Event Policies and the Terms of Use, these Event Policies control solely with respect to event participation.
Scope
For purposes of these Event Policies, “events” includes all Umeversity events, experiences, workshops, discussions, sessions, and other programming, whether virtual or in person.
Registration
Registration is confirmed upon successful submission of the registration form and payment, if applicable. Participants are responsible for providing accurate registration information.
Eligibility
Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by or have the permission of a parent or legal guardian, unless otherwise stated for a specific event.
Personal Property
Participants are responsible for their personal belongings. Umeversity is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. Any personal property left behind may be disposed of if unclaimed after a reasonable period.
Event Changes
Umeversity reserves the right to modify the event date, time, location, speakers, agenda, or format, or to postpone, reschedule, or cancel an event when necessary. Participants will be notified of any material changes using the contact information provided during registration.
Registration Transfer
Registrations may be transferred only with Umeversity’s prior written approval.
Refund & Cancellation
Registration fees are non-refundable. No refunds or credits will be issued if a participant cancels their registration, fails to attend an event, arrives late, leaves early, or is unable to participate for any reason.
If Umeversity cancels an event for reasons not caused by Force Majeure, registered participants will receive a full refund of any registration fees paid.
If an event is canceled, postponed, or rescheduled due to Force Majeure, Umeversity may, at its discretion, offer a refund, credit, or rescheduled event. No refunds are guaranteed for Force Majeure cancellations.
For questions regarding cancellations or refunds, participants may contact Umeversity at [email protected].
Force Majeure
Umeversity shall not be responsible for delays, cancellations, or changes resulting from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, public health emergencies, government actions, power outages, venue issues, or other unforeseen events. If an event is affected by Force Majeure, refunds, credits, or rescheduling will be handled in accordance with the Refund & Cancellation policy.
Code of Conduct
Participants are expected to treat everyone with respect, welcome differing perspectives, listen with curiosity, follow venue rules, and respect the privacy of others.
Disruptive, discriminatory, threatening, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate behavior may result in refusal of admission or removal from the event without refund. Umeversity reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to remove any participant whose conduct violates these Event Policies or disrupts the event.
Photography, Recording & Social Media
Participants may not record, photograph, livestream, or publicly share event content on social media or other public platforms without the prior written permission of Umeversity. This includes speakers, presentations, discussions, educational materials, and other participants.
By attending a Umeversity event, participants acknowledge that they may appear in photographs or video recordings taken by Umeversity for promotional, educational, archival, or future event purposes.
Proprietary Content & Commercial Use Restriction
Umeversity provides learning experiences on a complimentary or paid basis, depending on the specific offering. All proprietary educational content, original materials, structured modules, frameworks, methods, presentations, and branded educational systems developed by Umeversity remain the intellectual property of Umeversity.
Participants may use the knowledge and skills gained through Umeversity experiences for their own personal learning, development, and activities. Participation in a complimentary or paid offering, however, does not transfer ownership of Umeversity’s proprietary content or grant a license to reproduce or commercially exploit that content.
Users may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, sell, license, teach, adapt, or create derivative educational or commercial materials based upon Umeversity’s proprietary content, including its original curriculum, course structure, modules, frameworks, presentations, instructional materials, or branded systems, without prior written permission from Umeversity.
Nothing in this provision prohibits participants from independently using general ideas, facts, skills, or knowledge they have learned. The restriction applies to the copying, repackaging, adaptation, teaching, distribution, or commercial use of Umeversity’s proprietary expression, materials, and original educational content.
Accessibility
Participants requiring reasonable accommodations are encouraged to contact Umeversity before the event. Umeversity will make reasonable efforts to accommodate accessibility needs.
Medical Emergencies
Participants are responsible for their own medical needs. By attending an event, participants authorize Umeversity to contact emergency medical services if Umeversity reasonably believes immediate medical assistance is necessary.
Health & Safety
Participants agree to comply with all applicable venue rules and reasonable health and safety instructions provided by Umeversity or the event venue.
Assumption of Risk
Participants acknowledge that attendance at a Umeversity event is voluntary and accept any ordinary risks associated with participating in in-person or virtual events.
Liability Release
Participation in Umeversity events is voluntary. Participants assume all risks associated with attending an event and release Umeversity, Benefit LLC, its owners, employees, volunteers, speakers, contractors, affiliates, and associated parties from liability to the fullest extent permitted by law, except where liability results from gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Agreement
By registering for or attending a Umeversity event, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to these Event Policies.
